Who we are

Presentation

In today's Peru, many talented young people continue to face great challenges in accessing quality higher education and completing their university studies. One of the biggest obstacles they encounter is the lack of financial resources, which leads some to interrupt their studies in order to work and support their families.

This reality reminds us how urgent it is to strengthen the scholarship and financial aid systems, so that the lack of resources is not an impediment on their way to a better future.

%

is the dropout rate in Peruvian private universities in 2021.

In response to this problem, the Fiat Lux Foundation was created in 2020. This initiative of the PUCP Alumni community in the U.S., led by Dr. Eric Torres, delegate of Region 4 (Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee and Kentucky), has the mission to inspire, provide opportunities to improve the educational experience of low-income students through donations from PUCP Alumni, friends, companies and institutions.

The foundation, officially recognized on September 15, 2022, has as its motto "Transforming futures. One student at a time / Transforming futures. One student at a time" and aims to build and maintain a dedicated endowment to support a fund for scholarships, creative activities and academic research.

In this first stage, the Foundation's efforts have been concentrated on obtaining donations from the PUCP Alumni communities around the world to make the first Fiat Lux Scholarship a reality, which is expected to be awarded in 2026.

In the near future and thanks to the momentum of this first action, the Foundation hopes to link up with other associations and foundations with similar objectives to work collaboratively and, in the long term, replicate its model in the European Union and other regions of the world.

Presentation

In today's Peru, social inequalities still persist, hindering both access to and permanence in quality higher education institutions. One of the main obstacles faced by our young people in their efforts to continue their university studies is insufficient economic resources. Many, faced with the difficulty of financing their education, are forced to interrupt their studies in order to work and support their families economically.

This reality highlights the urgent need to strengthen scholarship systems and financial aid programs, ensuring that resources are not a barrier to higher education.

In this first stage, the Foundation's efforts have been concentrated on obtaining donations from the PUCP Alumni communities around the world to make the first Fiat Lux Scholarship a reality, which is expected to be awarded in 2026.

This aid seeks to contribute to the integral development of PUCP students with limited economic resources and outstanding academic performance so that they do not interrupt their university studies.

In the near future and thanks to the momentum of this first action, the Foundation hopes to link up with other associations and foundations with similar objectives to work collaboratively and, in the long term, replicate its model in the European Union and other regions of the world.
